Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between Bootcamp and Ignition courses?

Bootcamp courses are 480-hour career programs that are designed to take students from beginner to employable and includes career services. Ignition programs consist of 60-80 classroom hours, teach foundational skills, and do not include Career Services.

I don't have any coding experience OR any design skills, will I be able to enroll in one of your programs?

Absolutely! While having some background knowledge may help a bit, our pre-course materials will provide you with framework, context and new vocabulary to prepare you for the course.

What is the application process and when will I know if I’m accepted?

We have an admission questionnaire to evaluate your logic and problem solving skills, as well as your interpersonal and communication skills. We also interview you to understand who you are as a whole person to ensure that employers want to work with you!

Is this Bootcamp for credit or certification?

This is a non-credit bearing course but upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion from Norwich University.

Can I work during this Bootcamp?

If you are taking the full-time course which is Monday-Friday, 9:00-5:00pm, for 12 weeks, it will be too challenging for you to work and take this demanding Bootcamp. In addition to the 40 hours of class time, you will be required to do work outside of class as well. If you take the part-time course, which is evening and weekend over 24 weeks, you will have the capacity to work.

What hardware and software do I need to take one of your programs?

Students are required to have access to a modern laptop to bring to each class session, which can run up-to-date operating systems including MacOS, Windows, or Linux. Students must have video/audio functionality in order to participate in the online courses.
All laptops must be able to run the following software:
Google Chrome version 70.0 or higher (browser)
Mozilla Firefox version 60.0 or higher (browser)
Windows Visual Studio Code version 1.28.0 or higher (editor)
Node.js version 12.13.0 or higher (javaScript run-time)
Git version 2.19.1 or higher (version control)
Heroku-CLI version 7.18.0 or higher (application platform)

What if I am sick or have to miss class?

We understand that life happens and you may need to miss a few classes. You will be responsible for reviewing the lecture(s), material(s) that you missed and for submitting any project work related to the classes you missed.

If I successfully complete a bootcamp, who helps me launch my new career and find a new job with my new tech skills?
